Haha, flipsy, great minds! I just came to set it up myself and it was already taken and I though ooh hoo who would've done that: Flipsy! And I was right. Yay!
Yep, did that back in April or so, when the DDoS attacks were really threatening hard.
Now, as I understand it, they're only allowing migration for paid communities to start with, then they'll eventually phase in free comms. It sounds like their plan is to do that fairly rapidly, so I'm willing to wait for a bit, I think. We'll import what we already have (and see what it looks like - I do think we'll lose some of the graphic and media stuff, unfortunately), and then we can keep importing regularly, which won't take long at all, at that point.
And then we can keep assessing whether to move over here permanently, depending on what kind of silliness LJ pulls in the future.
Sounds like a good plan! It's a big week for DW too, given that they probably weren't expecting all this extra business to fall in their laps so suddenly, especially at this time of year. They probably need to expand their own server situation to cope. I'm happy to wait a bit too, though if we need to go for a paid comm, happy to look into that if it's not too spensy.
